Fair Hill Selected as Venue For 2018 Four Star Eventing Competition

Until recently, the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event in Lexington, KY was the only 4* level eventing competition in the United States. But the United States Equestrian Federation announced this summer that Fair Hill International, an eventing venue in Elkton, MD, has been selected to become the site of the second 4* in the U.S.

Eventing enthusiasts in Eastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding area are thrilled that an eventing competition of the highest level will be held right in their own backyard in 2018! For Pennsylvania equestrians, it’s just about as good as having the Olympics just a short hour’s drive away.

Fair Hill was a natural choice for the United States’ second 4*: the venue already holds 2* and 3* competitions each fall, and its key location in the Mid-Atlantic region makes it easily accessible for competitors and spectators alike. Already a favorite destination for many eventing fans, Fair Hill is sure to draw quite a crowd for the 4* in 2018. There are also plans to significantly expand the courses and facilities to accommodate the needs of this top-level competition. We can’t wait to see how Fair Hill’s 4* continues to develop!

Ex-racehorses available for adoption will be showcased during the event, and off-track Thoroughbreds who have made the successful switch to competitive event horses will also strut their stuff for spectators at Plantation. Some of the horses showcased will also be available for purchase at the Thoroughbred Makeover event being held just three weeks afterwards in Lexington, KY.

The event’s organizers hope that it will be a bridge between the Thoroughbred racing and eventing worlds, bringing together fans of two very different sports that both love and appreciate the same wonderful equine athletes.
